Three Dimensional Product Package
Packaging design has the primary goal to attract customers’ attention. For this purpose, package designs can not simply inform the customers, but also provoke feelings and communicate emotions. An effective packaging looks attractive, impresses with its creativity and is just nice to have on the shelf.
Keep it short
Let your images do the talking. Keep your features and benefits long enough to educate but not so long they give up reading.
Bullet points are always good for this and don’t use more than 3 to 4 bullets per feature or benefit.
Four Seconds is all you have to grab attention on shelf
If for example you’re designing a cereal box, generally the competitor products will be similar in color because they all pretty much represent the same thing. Standing apart from the others is key; if they all use yellow go for something different so you grab the customer’s attention…be bold.
STEPS:
1- Decide on your original product- Is it a food? candy? clothes?
2- Find a template online or use mine provided below.
3- Print it out and cut out the box. Fold it together into the actual 3D box shape
4- Draw your designs on the box in pencil- this is important so you know how the sides all line up.
5- Unfold your box and start designing on the computer.

- Use Emphasis- remember to draw the viewers eye to the things that are important-
- Think of the package as a 3d box, designs can wrap around to the other sides.
- Color matters- Use color to draw attention to your product. Remember too much will make your message unclear.
