Work Samples- Show 'em whatchugot
Now is your time to shine!!!! The viewer has read your resume, cover letter and everything else in your portfolio now it is time to hit them with the best part!! YOUR AMAZING WORK!!! How you present your work samples matter just about as much as the samples themselves this means they gotta look perfect and the writing must be error free.
You are only required to do 3 but you can do more-
Here is what you need to do:
Choose your best works from the class. The stuff that will really blow away a viewer. BE SELECTIVE! You might really like that picture of your dog, but does it really show your photo skills? Does a 15 minute little illustrator exercise really show the magnitude of the skills you have learned?
Once you have them selected you will be doing some writing about the work. Essentially you need to tell the viewer:
- What the assignment was that you were asked to complete.
- The process you used to make this: What were the steps? What materials and tools did you use?
- What does it mean?
- Reflect on the final work, what would you change next time? Don't be negative, but show that you know what can be improved.
The writing for each work only needs to be about one paragraph long but should contain information that the viewer would want to know.
